Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 14th December 2015

Seniors

The seniors long season came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Ruislip after losing to Clonmel Commercials in the All-Ireland Quarter Final. Clonmel started brightly and despite dominating possession in the early stages the Gaels stayed in touch with points from Adam Askin, Marty Mc Coy & Adrian Hanlon. After conceding a goal, the Gaels responded well and finished out the first-half strongly kicking three well taken and unanswered points from Askin, Hanlon & Cathal Magee leaving the scoreline at 1-05 to 0-6 at halftime.

A sucker punch goal from Clonmel superbly taken at the start of the second half, quickly followed up by a point saw the Tipperary men open up a six-point cushion. The woes continued further after losing Adam Askin to a second booking, however the Gaels refused to give up and a gritty second half performance from Liam Gavighan was rewarded with two points. A fine 45 from Mark Gottsche against the wind was to be the final score to be clocked up from TCG but these were matched by Clonmel which left the final scoreboard reading 2-12 to 0-09. We wish Clonmel Commercials all the best in the Semi-Final against Ballyboden St. Enda's in the new year.

Congratulations to all the players, management and backroom team on reaching this stage and another successful season for the club. A well earned break is now on the cards for all involved before the new season begins.

Season's Greetings

Tir Chonaill Gaels would like to take this opportunity wish all members, supporters and friends of the club a very Happy Christmas and wish you a Peaceful New Year.
