Club Notes - 18th June 2007Seniors
The Senior team collected the first trophy of the year last Saturday at Ruislip, where they defeated St. Brendan’s in the Tipperary Cup Final by a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-7.
Playing with a much changed team from the previous week, the Gaels gave their fringe players a chance to show off their skills. The Gaels had the better of exchanges in the first half but were unable to open up a gap against a stubborn St. Brendan’s side.
Darragh Kinnevey, again, was in fine form scoring the majority of the Gaels scores, with help from Dave O’Brien. David Cannon playing at centre half back had a solid game with good support from Mickey Kelly and Hughie Cunningham. Gavin McEvoy playing in goals done his bit with some fine saves and a penalty stop near the end of play. It has to be said that one of the highlights of the game was Adrian McGeehan scoring a rare point from all of 20 yards!
With the game coming to a close, St. Brendan’s substitute Mattie Moran sustained an injury after a collision with the keeper, Gavin McEvoy, which resulted in the game being delayed for half an hour. We wish him a speedy recovery.
We lock horns again this Sunday at Ruislip with a Midday kick-off in the Championship with both teams likely to show different hands.Minor Team
