Club Notes - 8th September 2008
TCG 3-19 St Kiernans 0-5
The senior team had a good win last weekend against a weak St Kiernans team at Ruislip. There were good performances by Aaron Somers and Ronan Walsh in defence, Gary Mc Closkey had the upper hand in midfield while up front there was great link play between Kevin Downes, Dan Mc Cusker and James O’ Connell. The final round of the group is this Saturday 13th against the Parnells at Ruislip with a 3-30pm throw-in. A victory here should see us through to the semi finals but the Parnells will not make it easy for us.
The under 21 team have a game on Sunday 14th against Saint Kiernans at Greenford with a 3-30pm throw-in, all support welcome.
The club would like to wish star player Noel Burke and his wife to be Sinead all the best this Saturday 13th as they tie the knot in sunny Fermanagh.

Well done to the U18’s who continued their good run in the league against St Kiernan’s in Mill Hill last Sunday. There were some very good performances from Ricky Williamson, John Geraghty, Aaron Somers & Kevin McFadden all held strong in defence, while Daniel Horgan had an outstanding game in the middle and with them lads playing well it allowed Frank & Aiden Lynam, Jerome Lawson and Liam Gavaghan to keep hotting up the scores. The Gaels were winners with a scoreline of TCG 3.16 St Kiernan’s 1.9.

On Saturday last in Peckham Rye Tir Chonaill Gaels Under 16’s played an under strength Dulwich Harps in a very entertaining Under 16 Championship quarterfinal. Dulwich started the match with the wind on their backs and were quick off the mark with a point from the throw in. The Gaels were slow to start and had to wait 10 minutes before their first score. Dulwich finished two points up at half time. The Gaels started the second half with the aid of a very strong wind but found it difficult to penetrate the Dulwich back line by kicking numerous wides. Finally the Gaels got going with a few quick scores. Dulwich replied with a goal from a long clearance from the backs, which left the Gaels ahead by a point with only 10 minutes to go. They were then awarded a penalty, which resulted in a goal. The Gaels went on to score another point and win the match by 5 points which ensured their place in the Semi-Final.
Training starts again this Friday 12th September for Nursery, U10, U12 and the Gaels Girls at 7.30pm
