Minor Board Notes - 17th September 2008
On Saturday at Northwick Park, Tir Chonaill Gaels and Parnells U16’s played the Semi-Final of the Championship in ideal weather conditions. TCG’s were first to register a score, a point from a free after five minutes and added a second point shortly after. Parnells replied with a goal. That set the trend for a very competitive match with both teams having their share of dominance. The match was played in a very sporting manner which made the referees job an easy one. The game continued with both sides trading scores. At half time the Parnells were ahead by 3 points.
After the break Tir Chonaill Gaels came out with all guns blazing, racing into the lead with 4 unanswered points. The sides again traded points until the Parnells scored a goal, this looked like being the winning score, the Parnells were now leading by 2 points. The Gaels were in no mood to surrender. With only 5 minutes to go a long delivery by the Gaels from their midfield dropped in the Parnells square which was punched into the net. The Gaels now led by a point.
The final whistle blew, the Gaels had won by a point securing their place in the final to be played in two weeks time.
The final score TCG 1- 14 Parnells 2- 10

The Keating family would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the recent mass for the first anniversary of their son David who sadly lost his fight against cancer last year. They would also like to thank all the past and present parents/pupils and staff from St Georges (Sudbury) who donated a bench in honour of David which is now placed at Tir Chonaill Gaels. Thanks again.
