Congratulations to the Under 16 Team who beat St. Kiernan’s to become London U16 Champions for the 3rd time in a row. The game was played in Ruislip on Saturday in dry but windy conditions. The first half saw the Gaels take the lead by 7 points. The Kiernan’s came back in the second half to score two goals in quick succession but the Gaels were determined not to be beaten and kept ahead eventually winning by 11 points. The minors travelled to Mitcham on Sunday and finished off a hectic weekend in the Gaels calendar where they met Round Towers in the primarily round of the championship the lads proved their worth with a good performance of football under wet conditions. The final score was TCG 5.12 Round Towers 3.04 well done lads. The semi final id due to be played next Saturday against Parnell’s in Greenford at 5.00pm.
We had a good turnout of 17 players and four coaches and were able to field two decent teams at Tara's late season Blitz. We were pretty competitive in the A group despite losing our three games, two were by only one score. With our shooting boots on we would have won both of these comfortably having missed a stack of chances. The younger lads did really well in the B group against much bigger teams, winning two and losing two by one point each. Nearly all of the lads here today will still be under ten next year, many the year after also and gives us great hope for the next couple of years. See you all at presentation night on Oct 17th, 7.30pm.
The Gaels U13’s girls took part in a tournament last Saturday in Greenford and won both matches against Tara’s and Dulwich Harps the Gaels had 16 girls in attendance which was a great achievement as this is their first year as a team, well done girls and thanks to Lisa, Maureen & Bernadette for keeping the girls in shape.
The Minor board presentation night will take place on the 17th October at the club house, those being honoured on the evening will be Nursery, U10’s, U12’s, U14’s boys & U14’s girls
Training continues this Friday for Nursery, U10, U12 and the Gaels Girls at 7.30pm
