Club Notes - 12th January 2009

All-Ireland Club Quarter final

This Sunday the club attempts for the twelfth time to get into the All-Ireland football championship semis when we lock horns with Galway and Connaught champions Corofin in Ruislip with a 2pm throw-in.

After all the focus around the Celebrity Bainisteoir match over the last six weeks, Sunday’s game has been the primary target from the start of the season with Manager Paul Coggins having an injury free squad to pick from.

The club asks all its members to turn out in force and cheer on the lads as they try and break the barrier that has prevented London teams from progressing.

Celebrity Bainisteoir

Any members looking for a copy of the Celebrity Bainisteoir match can obtain this from the club secretary Stephen McLoughlin.

Underage Star

Congratulations to club player Aaron Somers on getting selected for the Down under 21 panel last weekend. Aaron has been playing for the past two months for Jordanstown University Belfast and has made a huge impact since his arrival. Credit must go to his mentors at underage level who have coached him since he was twelve. We wish him well on his selection and hope to see him in the future years wearing the Down Senior colours.

With Sympathy

The club would like to pass on their condolences to former player Brian Breen who’s father Barney passed away just before Christmas at his home in Leitrim. Our thoughts are with the family through this difficult time.

Minor Board AGM

The minor board AGM will be held on Friday the 6th February at the clubhouse. All members are requested to attend along with any new members.
