Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 29th June 2009

The reserve team and the Tara put on a great display of football in the league in the sweltering heat last Saturday in Greenford.

In a must win game the Gaels started off well with scores from the accurate JP O’Donnell and Martin Sweeney. The Tara made use of their attacks by taking their scores with three attempts finding the back of the net against the flapping Stephen McLoughlin in goals.

Going in at half time trailing 3-4 to 0-7 the under performing Gaels had a mountain to climb in the second half to claw back the six point deficit.

Noel Burke, James Bonner and Lawrence Moore steadied up the defence, Stephen Owens and Liam Gill took control of midfield while up front the veteran Barry McDonagh, Martin Sweeney and JP O’Donnell punished the Tara.

Final score TCG 2-13, Tara 3-7.

London juniors

Well done to Stefan Carr and JP O’Donnell who were part of the successful London Junior team that beat Warwickshire last Sunday in the semi final of the British provincial championship by a score of 2-13 to 0-13.
