Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 20th July 2009

Seniors

The senior team started off the defence of the championship with an impressive ten point winning margin against the Parnells last Saturday in Ruislip.

A rock solid Gaels rearguard give the Parnells forward line little change with the immaculate Ronan Walsh giving a man of the match performance with Shaun Campbell showing good form after his injury problems.

Kevin “Whoppa” Mc Memamin give the opposition defenders sixty minutes of heartache with his five points with good support from Kevin Downes, Mark Alcorn and sub Chris Maroney.

Final score TCG 0-13, Parnells 0-3. Scorers, K Mc Menamin 0-5, K Downes 0-3, D Cassidy 0-2, L Gavaghan 0-1, M Alcorn 0-1 & J Hughes 0-1

In the other match in the group St Brendans beat Fulham Irish 1-8 to 1-7

Many thanks for the great support the team received on the day especially Pam and Patsy Mc Govern who made the five hour round trip from Cambridge. 

Fixtures

The senior team play Neasden Gaels on Saturday 25th in the Conway cup QF in Jubilee Park, Kingsbury with a 4pm throw-in.

The reserve team have a league semi final fixture against Kingdom Kerry Gaels on Sunday in Greenford with a 5pm start. 

Condolences

The club would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of Mossie Murphy who passed away unexpected last Monday at his home in Shepherds Bush.

Mossie originally from Kilkenny had been a great supporter of the club over the years selling tickets for our lottery; he will be sadly missed by all at his local boozer, the British Queen in Shepherds Bush

Funeral arrangements will be posted on the website nearer the time. 

Exile Cup
The club are off to the Belgian capital Brussels on Saturday 10th October to play the European champions for the Exile cup.

The match is being played to celebrate the 125 year anniversary of the GAA.
