Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 5th October 2009

Its back to Ruislip in two weeks time as we played out a drawn match in the championship final against Neasden last Sunday.

Trailing at half time 1-5 to 0-5 the Gaels showed great character in the second half to peg back Neasden against the wind and reduce them to just two points.

It wasn’t our best day at the office but we live to fight another day with the replay to be played on Sunday 18th October.

Best on the day were Hugh Cunningham and Shaun Campbell in defence with Gary Kane and Gary Mc Closkey having the bigger share at midfield.

Up front the Veteran Niall Quinn rolled back the years with a vintage performance scoring two points and using his excess weight to good effect. Final score TCG 0-10 Neasden 1-7

Best wishes to club physio Kalambo Simpungwe who is leaving the club after a three year stint to take up a full time post.

Kalambo has been a great addition to the club over the years with his expertise and he will be greatly missed.

The club make the journey to Brussels this Saturday to play Belgium GAA for the Exile cup to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the GAA.

Everyone is asked to be at Kings Cross (St Pancras) station no later than 7am to catch the Euro star. Check the club website for the weekend’s itinerary.

Thanks to all who took part in the clubs annual golf day at South Herts club and congrats to the winning team of McGinley Recruitment captained by loyal club supporter Eugene Meehan.
