McGee close to committing to London

Donegal's Eamon McGee
17 February 2010

Donegal defender Eamon McGee has revealed that it is looking more likely that he will line out in the colours of London this year.

The Gaoth Dobhair man is working in the English capital at the moment and cannot return home to Donegal unless he gains employment in the area.

He is currently training with the London footballer and although his first preference is to line out with his native county, he is realistic about his prospects for the year.

"In all honesty it looks like I'm going to stay about here (London)," he told the Donegal Post. "I'm working away, and having been sitting about for so long it would be very hard to go back to that.

"I was chatting to John Joe (Doherty) on the phone and he was very understanding about my situation. I'd love to be able to go home and play for Donegal but things are just too quiet.

"I'm training away with London, and they are now looking for an answer one way or another. I told them I'm going home on Monday for a few days. And if nothing happens I'll have to declare for them.
