Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 10th May 2010

Killybegs:

This Saturday the club travel to Killybegs, Donegal for the official opening of the Eamonn Byrne Memorial Park.

This is a great honour for the club to be asked to take part in this special occasion and we look forward to catching up with many of our ex- members.

There will be two football matches played on the day; Killybegs will play Tir Chonaill Gaels of London, followed by a Senior Inter-county game between Donegal and Leitrim.
The field will be officially opened by Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Christy Cooney at 2pm.
A large crowd is expected due to the relationship between Tir Chonaill Gaels and Killybegs, as well as the interest in the Donegal and Leitrim county teams.

2PM: Official opening of the Eamonn Byrne Memorial Park by Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Christy Cooney.

The senior team have a friendly match this Wednesday evening against Moindearg at Greenford with a 7.30pm throw-in.

Reserves:

The reserve team tasted their first bit of football for the year with a league match against St Brendans last Saturday at Greenford.

In a closely contested affair with a majority of the scores coming in the second half, the Brendans got the vital goal in the dying seconds to win the game by 3-9 to 2-11.

Best on the day for the Gaels were Aaron Charles, James Bonner and Tommy Moriarty.

Peter Mc Glynn Tournament.

Well done to the Minor board on running a very successful tournament last Saturday with 15 teams taking part with the Tara winning the cup.

Condolences:

The club would like to pass on its condolences to former member Stephen O’Byrne and his family after the recent passing by of his mother Bernadette.

Funeral mass will take place at Saint Carath church, Kilcar, Donegal on Tuesday 11th May at 11am

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very difficult time, may she rest in peace.
