Tir Chonaill Gaels Board Notes - 14th June 2010
The senior team travelled to Mitcham last Sunday to play the Round Towers in round 3 of the league and came away with an 8 point win.
Played in windy conditions it was a game of two half’s with the Towers playing with it in the first half and taking some long range points. The Gaels worked hard and were rewarded with a David Mc Creevy goal midway through the half and went in at the break leading by one point.
The second half saw a lot more attacks with some excellent scores from Liam Gavaghan, John Collins and another David Mc Creevy goal to leave the final score 2-10 to 0-8.
The reserve team also had a league fixture against the Towers but fell short by 4 points. Towers 2-9, TCG 2-5
But the game produced another bit of history with stalwarts Paul Coggins, Stocker Mc Loughlin and Maurice Carr lining out in the full forward line to break another record.
These three men are not far away from claiming their free bus passes and yet they still manage to put on the boots and score a combined total of 2-3.
They may be bed ridden for a few days now but Coggins says if the Rolling Stones can still do it, well we can. Reuters
The junior team recorded their first win in the league with a 5 point win over St Anthony’s at Greenford last Saturday.
Best on the day were Jason Mullarkey, Ger Geraghty and Clive Mills.
