28 October 2010 Paul Coggins has agreed to become London's new football manager. The 44-year-old Roscommon native will be appointed for a three-year term at next week's county board meeting after Mattie Maher withdrew his candidacy. A former London player, Coggins managed Tir Chonaill Gaels to four county senior football championships in recent years and is well familiar with the local scene. He said: "After five years with the Gaels, I have a fair idea of the game in London, but I will be putting together a strong backroom team to help me out." Coggins succeeds Westmeath native Noel Dunning, who stepped down after six years as manager in the wake of this year's heavy All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Wexford.
