Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 4th April 2011

The senior team got their season underway last Saturday with a Tipperary Cup match against St Kiernan’s at Mill Hill.
Although not playing at full strength the team gave a good account of themselves with debutant Benny O’Reilly showing well alongside Veteran Maurice Carr in his 50th year in the forward line.
The Gaels lost the game by three points.

The junior team travelled to Mill Hill on Sunday for their opening fixture of the year with a McArdle cup match against Shalloe Pearses.
Starting the game with twelve players and losing one in the first half it was going to be an uphill battle. The Young Guns put on a master performance to win the game by a score line of 0-12 to 1-8. Best on the day were Philip Butler, Clive Mills and the veteran Liam Mullan

Saturday 9th April, juniors v St Josephs, McArdle cup, Greenford 3.30pm.
Sunday 10th April, seniors v Moindearg, Tipperary cup, Greenford 3.30pm
All support welcome for both matches,

The club would like to pass on our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Frank Mc Loughlin who passed away last week at his home in Tealin, Carrick, Co Donegal.
Frank was one of the founder members of the club back in 1962 and he was in attendance for the opening of the clubhouse in 2002.
May he rest in peace.

Easter 7s:
The draw for the Easter 7s will take place this Thursday, 9.30pm at the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Clubhouse Works:
Many thanks to the club members who have put in a huge effort over the past two weeks with maintenance to the clubhouse.
Much more work is required with the upkeep and all members are asked to help out this week with us hosting three tournaments in the coming weeks.
Contact Maurice Carr or Stephen Mc Loughlin for shift times.
