Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 6th June 2011

Juniors:
Last Sunday the club fielded a team in the London junior championship for the first time since the mid seventies.
This time around it was an all English born team who took to the field to play an experienced Saint Josephs.
Playing with the wind in the first half the lads opened up a four point lead and could have extended that but for some poor finishing.
Noel Burke a veteran by some years on this team aged 32 used all of his experience to keep the house in order with his softly big brother approach.
As the game entered its final quarter the Gaels were still very much in it but two late St Joes goals put an end to a dream debut and the game ending in a 2.14 to 0-10 defeat.
Credit to all of the lads who showed great patches of skill and determination throughout the game and better days are only around the corner.
Best on the day were Stefan Carr, Ryan Fortune and Clive Mills.

Reserves:
The reserve team have their next outing this Wednesday 8th June with a league match against Tara at Greenford with a 7.30pm throw-in.

School Disco:
Many thanks to all of the people who supported and attended the very successful school disco which took place in the club last Saturday evening. A special thanks to Carol McNicholas and her pupils who done a fine job organising the event and decorating the classroom.

Coventry:
The club are honoured to have been invited to officially open the new pitch belonging to Rodger Casements of Coventry on Saturday 25th June. There will be a coach going from the club with an overnight stay in the midlands planned, any club members wishing to be a part of the occasion can contact Secretary Stephen Mc Loughlin for more details.

Congratulations to former player Dermot Gordon and his wife Mercedes on the arrival of their third child. Baby daughter Kinley was born three weeks ago and all at the club wish them well.
