Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 13th June 2011
The club had the pleasure of a visit from Taoiseach Enda Kenny last Friday evening at the clubhouse with a large crowd in attendance.
The Taoiseach was in London for a fundraising event in the Crown Hotel and called into the club for a one hour visit on route.
He was joined by TD Joe Mc Hugh from Donegal, the Mayor of Ealing John Gallagher, local MP Steve Pound and other Councillors to make the visit a very memorable one.
In his short time here he managed to meet all of the parents and children who were kitted out in their county colours and had their photographs taking with him on a historic day for the club.
The reserve team played two matches last week and came out with maximum points after wins over Tara and Round Towers respectively.
On Wednesday the Gaels were on hot form beating Tara 2-19 to 0-4 while on Sunday a much tighter game against Round Towers finished with a four point victory 1-10 to 1-6.
The senior team were supposed to have a game against Tara last Thursday in the league but the game was called off due to the Tara being unable to field.
The junior team game against Clan Na Gael last Sunday in the league was called off due to Clan na Gael being unable to field.
They will play a friendly against Clarets on Wednesday at Greenford with a 7-30pm throw-in.
The senior team play Tara in the rearranged league match on Tuesday evening in Greenford with a 7-15pm throw-in.
On Thursday the seniors also have a cup semi final against St Kiernans in Ruislip with a 7-15pm throw-in. Check local papers or the club website for any changes or other fixtures.
The club are honoured to have been invited to officially open the new pitch belonging to Rodger Casements of Coventry on Saturday 25th June. There will be a coach going from the club with an overnight stay in the midlands planned, any club members wishing to be a part of the occasion can contact Secretary Stephen Mc Loughlin for more details.
The club would like to pass on our best wishes to former player John Paul Breslin who got married a few weeks ago to long term girlfriend Breeda in Glenties, Donegal.
The club would like to pass on our best wishes to senior/reserve/junior player Kevin Mc Fadden who celebrated his 21st birthday party last Friday in the Claddagh Ring.
Kevin does a huge amount of work for the minor board with coaching for the kids and ladies teams and dedicates a lot to his time to the club.
