Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 27th June 2011
Many thanks to the Rodger Casements club for kindly inviting us to play them last Saturday at the opening of their new pitch at the Sphinx sports club, Coventry.
Our senior team played the hosts for the Ann Boyle memorial cup after the official opening by president elect of the GAA Liam O’Neill.
The lads produced a great performance on the day to win our first silverware of the season and have a good weekend’s craic with the Casements.
On the downside a couple of the more senior members of the travelling party let themselves and the club down. Maurice Carr and Stephen Mc loughlin between them caused havoc in the hotel, letting off fire extinguishers, getting sick in the bar, knocking doors, breaking trees and serenading the chambermaids!
The club would like to congratulate the London county football team on your great victory over Fermanagh last weekend in the All-Ireland qualifier.
Special mention to Gaels players David McGreevy, Mark Gotsche, John Collins, Liam Gavaghan, Austin Concannon and Kevin Downes who have become part of London GAA history.
And finally to the legend that is known as Paul Coggins, her Majesty has called for a meeting with him with a knighthood a certainty. Cries for a statue to be erected of him at Ruislip and an appearance on Graham Norton all in the pipeline.
Next up is Waterford at Ruislip and with confidence high you would not bet against Coggins living out the dream that bit longer.
The reserve team have a league match this Saturday 2nd July against KKG at Greenford with a 3.30pm throw-in.
