Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 1st August 2011

Seniors:

The opening round of the senior championship proved to be a big disappointment to the Gaels last Sunday against the Parnells at Ruislip.

After a couple of wides in the early stages, the Gaels played 2nd best to a Parnells side who showed much more hunger and determination to lead at the break 1-6 to 0-3.

The second half saw some improvement especially in the closing stages with Kevin McMenimen scoring 1-5 of the team’s scores to leave us a point behind at the finish.

Some of the better performances on the day came from goalkeeper Gavin McEvoy who made a couple of excellent saves, the introduction of Stevie Boyle and Martin McCoy at half time to steady up the defence and Kevin McMenimen who done well with limited ball up front. Final score, TCG 1-11, Parnells 1-12

The would like to pass on our best wishes to John Collins who had to retire early in the game with an arm injury, we hope its not serious and he is back playing soon.
