Harlesden Harps lose out in U21 Championship to TCG/Round Towers/ St. Brendan’s Combo
Our under 21 team played last Saturday in the semi final of the championship against Harlesden Harps at Mill Hill.  The combination of mainly Tir Chonaill Gaels players who were assisted by 2 Round Towers players and 1 St. Brendan’s player defeated Harlesden Harps in an exciting, highly competitive and evenly matched game. This was Harlesden Harps first year competing in an U21 competition and they did not disappoint their management and supporters. The Greenford lads were first out of the block and went 3 points ahead after 10 minutes thanks to Shane Flanagan and a brace from Liam Gavaghan. Harlesden Harps began to get a grip in midfield with good performances from Ben O’Mahoney and Daniel Somers to steady the ship which lead to Harlesden Harps taking the lead with the score at half time 1-5 to 0-5.

The Greenford lads started the second half as they started the first, taking on some well worked points to draw level after 10 minutes but the Harps were not going to lie down and went ahead by 2 points which proved to be their only scores in the second half due to some outstanding saves by the Gaels goalkeeper Ross McKenzie. The Greenford outfit were more productive scoring 8 points in the second half to see them over the finish line by 3 points.

The game threatened to boil over in the last 10 minutes but thanks to Referee Rob Whelan who managed to calm the situation enabling both teams to finish with 15 players.
