Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 2nd April 2012

The senior team got the new season off to a winning start last Sunday at Ruislip with a Tipperary cup clash against Fulham Irish.
It was the first chance for new manager Timmy Connolly to see his new team in a competitive match against a stubborn Fulham.
The first half was evenly balanced with Eoin Mageean (0-3) and Dualtach Molloy standing out for the Gaels while Marty Hughes was giving the Gaels rearguard plenty to think about. Fulham started the second half in a more confident mood taking their scores while the Gaels wasted chance after chance. The final ten minutes saw the Tir Chonaill men up the ante with a Goal from the Lively Dualtach Molloy (1-4) to leave the scores at the finish TCG 1-10 Fulham Irish 0-8.
Best on the day were Ciaran Boyle, Dualtach Molloy, Micheal Traynor and man of the match, Eoin Mageean.

The junior team travelled to Goodmayes last Saturday to play Cuchullains in round 1 of the McArdle cup. Although missing a number of players the young lads kept in the game until the final quarter before tiredness and a lack of experience set in.
The lads won’t play many stronger teams then the Cuchullains this season and it won’t be long before the management team of Gary Kane and Michael Cunningham have them fine tuned.
Final score; Cuchullains 0-18 TCG 0-6.

Easter Sevens:
This Saturday the club hosts its annual Easter sevens tournament at Greenford with a 12 noon start. There are sixteen teams in the men’s event with eight teams in the ladies. All participating teams are requested to register before 11am.

Quiz Night:
A successful quiz night was held last Friday evening in the clubhouse with ten teams taking part. The smart cookies on the night were the Armagh boys of Brendan Mc Atarnsay, Mark Mc Conville, Micheal Traynor and Cathal McElwee.
Many thanks to the organisers of Michael Mullan, Maurice Carr and Stephen Mc Loughlin on keeping the house in order.

Cardiac Screening:
This is very important and the club are very keen to push forward on this. We are keen to get as many players/members, Cardiac Screened as possible. To do this the company need at least 60 people to be screened to make it viable for them to come within the club. With this in mind would you please get back to us to confirm if you are keen to get this done.
The cost of the screen is £40 and it takes about 15-20 mins for each screen. Also, if there is any need for a follow up, the company will deal with this also.
If you require any further information on this, please contact Christina Curran on 07787 016699 or e-mail her at christinamc89@hotmail.com

Race Night:
Saturday 21st April in the Shawl pub in South Harrow. We would ask all players to please try and sell as many cards as possible as this will be one of our main fund-raisers for the year. Carol McNicholas will get the cards out to you via e-mail and we would appreciate that you make an effort to sell them. Also, it is a great night craic.
