Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 25th June 2012

Clean sweep:
Congratulations to all of our teams last week on winning their respective games:

Seniors:
The seniors won last Tuesday evening in Mill Hill against St Kiernan's in the semi final of the Tipperary cup. The lads won after extra time to secure a place in their second cup final of the year. Selector Maurice Carr was asked to name who played well and he said nobody! So no CB this week. Whoppa, Brian Collins and Caolan Doyle all had decent games. TCG 1-16 v 1-14 St Kiernans; AET

Reserves:
The stiffs continued their excellent start to the season with a hard earned one point win over KKG at Greenford last weekend.
Gary Kane, not known for his scoring prowess stole the show with a personal tally of five points (anyone what knows Gary will tell you he hasn’t scored five points in his whole career) from his not so straight feet. The Gaels could not get daylight between themselves and the KKG with it going to the wire and with a nervous manager looking on.
Best on the day were Paddy Callaghan (looking sharp after his Horsenden hill run), Benny Quinn, Brendan Friel, Kieran Wall and Gary Kane.
Reserve League: TCG 1-12 v 2-8 KKG

Juniors:
The junior team defeated Shalloe Pearses in the league last weekend by a score line of 1-12 to 2-8. The lads faced a stern Pearses side that got off to a great start scoring 4 unanswered points before the young Gaels got going.
With points from Clive Mills ,Donal Gereghty and Paul Walsh it was back to a point at half time.
As Pearses were never beaten until Gaels took the lead midway through the second half and eventually won by a single point.

Ladies:
The result of the weekend was without doubt our ladies team winning their opening championship match against Clonbony on Sunday.
The girls have shown real grit and determination all season and really put on a show against Clonbony with Grace Cunningham, Katie O’Boyle, Mary Flaherty, Dara Davey, Carol and Fiona all performing well.
Keep up the good work girls and hopefully you will get your rewards at the end of the season. Final Score TCG 5-6 v 2-13 Clonbony:

Fixtures:
The fixtures for the week ahead are as follows.
Thursday 28th June Mill Hill 7.30pm St Kiernan's V TCG (Reserve League)
Tuesday 3rd July Greenford 7.30pm TCG v Neasden Gaels (Senior League)

London v Antrim:
This Saturday London footballers entertain Antrim in the All Ireland qualifiers in Ruislip with a 1pm throw-in.
We wish all our club members involved with the team the very best and especially Coleman Hands who broke his leg training for them last week and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Sponsorship Launch:
We have re-arranged the kit/sponsorship launch for this Friday 29th June at 7pm in the clubhouse. As you all know we had to cancel the last two due to the re-arranged championship game. Again, we would ask all members/ players to please try and get down and give Powerday a big welcome. A hot buffet will also be served.
We look forward to seeing you all on the night.

50th Dinner Dance:
For all those that reserved tickets for the Gala Ball, we would ask that you please pay for those tickets by the end of this week as tickets go on general sale next week.
The reason being is that we have had a huge demand for tickets and places are limited with this event going to be a definite sell out. Tickets are priced at £70 each and can be got from Geraldine Keane.
After June all tickets will be available on the open market and there is no guarantee that you will get a ticket if you have not purchased one by then.
Geraldine can be contacted at geraldine1keane@gmail.com or on 07958 322943
