Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 20th August 2012

Seniors:
The first final of the season was contested last Saturday in Ruislip against Fulham Irish in the Tipperary cup with a late Fulham surge wrapping up it for them.
A poor first half performance from the Gaels saw us trail at half time by a score line of 1-6 to 0-5 and loosing Eoin O Neill and David Harrington to injuries to make matters worse.
A second half revival lead by the lively Kevin Mc Menemin saw the lads get into rhythm and play most of the football in the Fulham half with Benny O Reilly scoring a goal.
Further points from Whoppa and Benny O Reilly gave us a two point lead with five minutes remaining but Fulham made the most of their attacks and scored three points to win the game by the minimum. Best on the day were Brian Collins, Mark Gottshe, Benny O’Reilly and Kevin Mc menemin. TCG 1-10, Fulham 1-11.
Team; B Mc Brearty, T Gribben, D Harrington, ( D Mc Greevy), B Collins, D Gordon, (B Ross) P Sherry, M Mc Coy, L Kavanagh, C Doyle, E Magaen, M Gottshe 0-1, J Mc Nicholas 0-1, B O Reilly 1-2, E O Neill 0-1, (B Mitchell), (C Boyle) K Mc Mememin 0-5.

Juniors:
The junior team bandwagon keeps rolling on after registering their third win in the championship against Dulwich Harps last Wednesday at Greenford.
The young guns were not at their best in the first half with Dulwich giving them the run-around but the second half seen them at their best. HT: 0-5 to 0-7.
The work rate in the second half is the reason why they have come on tenfold this year with Dulwich unable to build momentum with the constant pressure put upon them. A Patrick Flynn goal was the highlight of the half with some excellent scores from Liam Gavaghan, Clive Mills and Tommy Moriarty.
They will now play Saint Anthonys in the semi final with Dulwich playing Cuchullains on the weekend of 1st, 2nd September.

50th Donegal Function:
To celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary, some of our former members back in Donegal have organised a get together in the Mc Cumhaill centre, in Ballybofey, County Donegal on Friday 21st September 2012.
Entry fee on the night will be 10 euro with live music and a hot buffet provided.
