Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 27th August 2012
This Sunday 2nd September our junior team play in their biggest game of the year when they lock horns with Saint Anthonys for a place in the championship final.
The young guns have matured to no end throughout the year and have given their all, but on Sunday they will have to up the tempo to another level for them to beat a fancied Saint Anthonys at Ruislip.
This is not just a massive game for the team but for also the whole of the club with us celebrating this historic year and the pride this team has put into the club.
The throw-in is at 3pm and the club asks all members to come out and support the lads.
Donegal All Ireland:
Well done to Donegal on getting into the All-Ireland football final after beating Cork in the semi final last Sunday.
Many club members travelled back for the game and many more could still be there while you read this, but without doubt the member who stole the limelight was Brendan “Tiny” Vaughan. Brendan was on TV more times than Colm Mc Fadden, touched the ball more times than the referee and to finish it off he gave Jim Mc Guinness a big hug and in doing so destroyed his macho image!! 50th Donegal Function:
To celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary, some of our former members back in Donegal have organised a get together in the Mc Cumhaill centre, in Ballybofey, County Donegal on Friday 21st September 2012.
Entry fee on the night will be 10 euro with live music and a hot buffet provided.
Contact club secretary Stephen Mc Loughlin on 0044 7788 723922 or Niall Erskine on 00353 (86) 3955410 for more details.
For all those that reserved tickets for the Gala Ball, we would ask that you please pay for those tickets as soon as possible as numbers are limited.
The reason being is that we have had a huge demand for tickets and places will only be kept for paid tickets. Tickets are priced at £70 each and can be got from Geraldine Keane.

The club would like to pass on our condolences to the Round Towers club, friends and family of the late Mickey Collins.
Mickey passed away last week after a long illness and he will be fondly remembered as a great Gael for the Towers and London GAA.
May he rest in peace.
