English born side to contest final
13 September 2012
This weekend will be a landmark occasion for the GAA in London.
Tir Chonaill Gaels are use to winning championship titles, but on Sunday, their junior side take to the field for the championship final and the team consists of just English-born players.
This is a true testament of how far the GAA has come on in London as it is now reaching a far wider audience. Granted the majority of players are second generation Irish, but the fact that all were born in England is significant.
TCG will face Cu Chulainns in the final and they are now one of the few teams that can call on a 'settled' side as the turnover of players on an annual basis is immense.
A few of the side have had senior experience in the past and they go into the match as underdogs.
