Tir Choniall Gaels Club Notes 17th September 2012

Juniors:
The junior team fairytale came to an end last weekend when they went down bravely to a more physical and experienced Cuchullains at Ruislip in the championship final.
The young guns have given all at the club a great deal of pride and joy with their performances throughout the year and they gave their all right up to the final whistle.
Many thanks to the entire squad for their efforts and to the management team of Michael Cunningham, Gary Kane and Paul Coggins for their time and dedication.
The lads went in at half time on level terms (four points apiece) but the Cuchullains upped the ante in the second half and outscored the lads by eight points to four.
Best on the day were John Flynn who made some excellent saves in goals, Philip Butler in defence kept London senior player Sean Kelly down to one point.
The midfield pairing of Gavin Mc Evoy and Patrick Flynn more than held their own while up front Liam Gavaghan gave a man of the match performance.
The club congratulates the Cuchullains on their win and wish them all the best next year in the intermediate championship.

Seniors:
The senior team played the KKG in the league at Greenford and had to fight back at the end to salvage a draw. Best on the day were Mark Gottshe, Barry Mitchell, John Mc Grath and Kevin Mc Menemin. TCG 0-10 v 0-10 KKG:

Reserves:
The reserve team played their first game in over two months with an easy win over Fulham Irish in the championship at Greenford.
The team were best served by Daniel Friel, Paddy Callaghan, Hugh Cunningham, Brendan Friel and Cahal Mc Elwee. TCG 2-14 v 0-5 Fulham Irish:

Tir Chonaill Gaels Reunion in Donegal:
The Officers and members of Tir Chonaill Gaels GAA Club London, visit the County on Friday night the 21st of September at a Social in the Mac Cumhaill Centre Ballybofey 8.30pm.
The organising committee Chairman is Eddie Mc Ginty, and he expressed a warm welcome to all past members now resident in Donegal to join them this Friday to celebrate the occasion.
Tir Chonaill Gaels GAA Club in London has been home from home for many Donegal people while they were in London, and its an opportunity for us all to acknowledge that on Friday.
Admission is 10euro and a Buffet and music will follow. Further information and contact details can be obtained from donegal.gaa website.
2012 sees the London Club celebrate 50 years since its formation, and a large gathering of former members, is expected at the Ballybofey venue.

All Ireland-Final:
All roads lead to Croke Park this weekend with Donegal taking on Mayo for the right to win the Sam Maguire cup. Many club members will be travelling back for the game with many former members joining up with them for a few pre/post match beers.

Wedding Bells:
The club would like to pass on our best wishes to senior player, Fermanagh man Peter Sherry who got married last weekend to fiancé Julie-Ann at home.
The couple are honeymooning in Rome with Peter back for the championship semi final, now that’s commitment. 
Also this weekend former championship winning Captain Mickey “Dog” Donohoe ties the knot in Gorey, Co Wexford to long term partner Bernadette Rath.
Quit a numbers of Mickey’s former team mates from the nineties will be attending the big day and all at the club wish them “All the best”.

Engagement:
The club would like to congratulate senior player Keith Morrow on his recent engagement to girlfriend Catherina Keyes.

London to Brussels Cycle:
Well done to club members Stephen “Stocker” Mc Loughlin and Frank Glynn who completed a four day cycle from London to Brussels via Amsterdam last week.
The two athletes were two of the younger members of the twenty strong group and set a strong pace over the flat route in the early stages.
But on their final day leaving Amsterdam the pair of them were totally drained and had to take a tandem bike to complete the trip!

ABC Tournament:
Well done to the committee and members of the ABC who run a great tournament last weekend at Greenford with a large crowd in attendance. Many thanks to all of the club members who helped out.
