Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes 24th September 2012

Many club members, both Mayo and Donegal went to Dublin for the weekend and it was the very large Donegal contingent that came away the happiest. No doubt it could be mid-week before they arrive back to London due to the ongoing celebrations that will continue for the coming months. Obviously we commiserate with the Mayo members of the club and use that old cliché “there is always next year” but somehow I don’t think that will work. Again, well done to Donegal on winning Sam for the second time and most would agree that the best team won on the day.

Many ex players and members met in Ballybofey on Friday night past to celebrate the clubs 50th year in Donegal. With a large crowd in attendance and many of the original members there it was a case of reminiscing and back packing on celebrating this wonderful achievement by a club that has flown the flag for London football down through the years. Chairman and Vice-Chairman Tom Mohan and Maurice Carr were in attendance along with ex-chairmen Eddie McGinty and Mick McGrath. The night was very well organised by ex club secretary Niall Erskine and a committee of people who spent many years with the cub here in London. Many of them will be at the Gala Ball which takes place on Saturday 27th October, at the Crown Moran hotel in Cricklewood.

Fixtures:
It’s another big week for the club with the seniors up on Saturday in Ruislip at 4.30pm in the semi finals of the senior championship against St Kiernan’s. We would ask all members to please get out there and support the lads and hope we can make our fourteenth senior final appearance.

The juniors have a league game on Sunday in Greenford against St Clarets at 1pm.

Gala Dinner:

For all those that reserved tickets for the Gala Ball, we would ask that you please pay for those tickets as soon as possible as numbers are limited.
The reason being is that we have had a huge demand for tickets and places will only be kept for paid tickets. Tickets are priced at £70 each and can be got from Geraldine Keane.
Geraldine can be contacted at geraldine1keane@gmail.com or on 07958 322943
