Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 12th November 2012

The double is on after the reserve team defeated North London Shamrocks last weekend in the league semi final at a muddy Greenford.
The guys have now two finals to look forward to in the coming weeks with a league final against St Kiernans and a championship final against Fulham Irish.
Credit must go to NLS on fielding a second team at this late stage of the season but they came across an experienced Gaels team determined to win more silverware this season.
It was a solid all round team performance with the defence giving away very little while Brendan Friel was covering every inch of the turf whilst adding a few scores.
Up front Ciaran Carr, Niall Gilleece and Declan Alcorn all played excellent support roles to the awesome Vivian Browne, who started the game surprisingly in goals but showed his worth when introduced to the full forward line.
Final score TCG 3 -19, NLS 0-2

It was a disappointing weekend for the senior team with the KKG giving us a walkover in the final of the Conway cup. Nobody wants to win a cup without having to kick a ball but sadly this has happened, so it’s the end of the domestic season for the boys with three trophies in the clubhouse cabinet.
Next up will be the Munster champions in Ruislip in the All-Ireland club QF on Sunday 16th December 2012.

Our under 21 championship final game against Tara/Harlesden last weekend was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Check local papers or the club website for this weekends fixtures.

Sam Maguire Returns:
The big cup was back in Greenford last Sunday with Donegal manager Jim Mc Guinness making an appearance to the joy of many Donegal immigrants.
Check the club website in the coming weeks for pictures of the Gala dinner dance and Sam in the clubhouse.

Poker Classic:
The club is happy to announce the return of our popular annual poker classic in partnership with bookmakers BET365 on Friday 14th December 2012.
This event always creates a lot of interest with a good nights Craic guaranteed, entry fee for poker is £50 which includes a free pint and hot buffet.
Maurice Carr who has won this for the last two years (sober) says he will take it easy this time around and will have the beer goggles on.
There is only a limited number of 90 places available so book your seat early by contacting club secretary Stephen Mc Loughlin on 07788 723922.
