While Tir Chonaill Gaels have enjoyed a hugely successful year on the pitch, off the pitch major developments are happening as well. Last Friday, 14th December 2007, Larry Mc Grane, Transport Director, presented to the club a seventeen seater minibus on behalf of the Kelly Group. Larry presented the keys to the Club Chairman, Tom Mohan, who like Tim Kelly, Chairman of the Kelly Group, also hales from Frosses.
In June of this year Tir Chonaill Gaels launched a very ambitious five year development plan which identified numerous initiatives both short and long term which the club needed to undertake in order to initiate improvements and carry standards to the same level as the top clubs in Ireland.
One of the key initiatives to be achieved, in the short term, was the purchase of a minibus which was considered vital to further improve our under age development programmes, although the cost at £30,000 was a huge potential obstacle. However, when Tim Kelly read the development plan for the club he generously donated the minibus towards the ongoing development of Tir Chonaill Gaels. This staggeringly benevolent gesture by Tim Kelly is made all the more remarkable considering that he volunteered it without waiting to be asked. But then anyone with a long involvement with Tir Chonaill Gaels would not be too surprised, as Tim has been a great friend of the Club in many ways and on many occasions in the past. The Club are extremely grateful to everyone involved with the Kelly Group for this very generous contribution towards the future well being of all our members.
