Ulster men out to stop Gooch and co.

Tir Chonaill Gaels’ manager Paddy Carr believes the side can mark their 50th anniversary with a famous win over Dr Croke’s in Ruislip this weekend, and there’ll be plenty of Ulster celebrations if they do.
Not from provincial champions Crossmaglen as their main rivals had been dumped out, but from the team itself as it is littered with men from the nine counties.
Almost two-thirds of their 30-man squad hails from Ulster, with 10 of the 20 who featured in the London final win over Kingdom Kerry Gaels coming from here.
Five of the nine counties were represented that day with three Donegal players, two from Armagh, Down and Fermanagh and a Derry player taking part.
“Traditionally we always had a strong Ulster background,” said former Louth manager Carr. “We’ve just always had players from that part of the country.
