Tir Chonaill Gaels Youth Notes - 4th February 2013
St Brigid's Cross Making Night
The club was packed to the rafters last Friday night for our first ever St Bridgets Cross Making Family evening in support of the Across Charity which saw the young and the old come together to enjoy an evening of good food, traditional music and plenty of craic (and a wee bit of competition) in weaving St Brigid's Crosses. The attendance of the Jumbulance on the night really brought home the amazing work done by the Across Charity. The 'Donegal Rushes' were flown in by John McGinley who has been connected with the Across Charity for many years and Fr Michael Egan told the story of St Brigid and then blessed the rushes before they were distributed to weave into crosses. Traditional irish music was performed by Martin Murray, Kilkenny Jim, Colette Keavney and musicians from the London Irish Music School - thank you to you all - and also to Adrian Byrne and staff at the clubhouse for the most delicious Irish Stew, to Mary Reilly for her fabulous scone bread and to all who sponsored the raffle and supported the event in any way. We look forward to repeating the event in 2014.
