Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 29th April 2013

Seniors:
Tipperary Cup TCG 0-10, KKG 1-4:
The seniors played KKG last Saturday at Ruislip in Round 2 of the Tipperary cup and came away with a scrappy 3 point win.
The result leaves us on 4 points after two games with Parnells the remaining game in this group.

Juniors:
McArdle Cup at Goodmayes, TCG 0-13, Thomas McCurtains 1-3
McArdle Cup at Greenford, TCG 0-8, St Anthonys 1-9.
The Greenford fixture saw the young lads start with 14 players and finish the game with 12 due to injuries.
Well done to the team on a magnificent effort with special mention for Eoin Higgins in goals, Aidan McGarvey, Ryan Elliot and Clive Mills.  

Ladies:
Well done to our ladies team on winning their opening game of the season with a 6-11 to 0-2 win over Saint Colmcilles in the league.

Championship Draw:
The draw for this years championship will take place this Friday 

Crossmaglen 7s:
The club sent back a team on the weekend of 20th April to participate in the Crossmaglen inaugural 7s tournament in memory of James Hughes.
In our group we lost the opening game to Ballinderry 1-4 to 2-6 and won our following games against Cross 2s, 6-3 to 1-3 and Castlerock Dublin 5-2 to
1-5. In the semi final we lost to the Hosts 1st team by a score of 2-9 to 2-2.
There were excellent performances from Ryan Rocks in goals, Marty Mc Coy and Eoin Magean outfield while pensioner Maurice Carr made a few appearances to show we have experience in reserve.
Many thanks to the Crossmaglen club for their hospitality.

Condolences:
The club would like to pass on our condolences to club president Paddy Burke and his family on the loss of his mother Annie two weeks ago in Donegal. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

Peter Mc Glynn Tournament:
The annual Peter McGlynn tournament takes place on Bank holiday Monday 6th May in Greenford for girls and boys under 8/10/12s.

Quiz Night:
This Friday 3rd May our ladies board is hosting a quiz night in the clubhouse with an 8-30pm start.
Entry fee is £5 per person with a maximum of 5 persons per team.
All members and players from all teams are asked to come along and support this fundraiser for the ladies team with plenty of entertainment guaranteed from quiz masters Conor Conneely  and Ann-Marie McGill. 

50th Birthday Wishes:
The club would like to pass on our best wishes to two long serving club members Maureen Vaughan and Phil Butler (senior) on reaching milestone birthdays last weekend. Well done on looking so fresh after all these years!!
