Carr says Cross’ as good as ever

Defeated Tir Chonaill Gaels manager Maurice Carr says there was no shame in his side’s 0-6 to 0-10 All-Ireland senior club quarter-final defeat to Crossmaglen ’cause any team in Ireland would have struggled to beat the defending champions.

"Many of the players are disappointed because some feel they did not do themselves justice and empty the tank out there on the field, but Crossmaglen are not All-Ireland champions without good reason," said Carr.

"We know where we are, we also know that experience of big-time matches cost us today and that was the advantage Crossmaglen had over us.

"Even when they were four points up, Crossmaglen’s cool heads chose to play a game of containment designed to secure victory and good luck to them.

"Their semi-final against the Leinster champions should be a thriller," added Carr who says he will be in charge of the Gaels for the coming season.
