Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 5th May 2014

McArdle Cup Final TCG 1-5, Moindearg 0-10:
Our junior team competed in the first final of the year last Sunday when they played Moindearg in the McArdle Cup at a sunny Ruislip.
Although we started without a number of regulars on the day, the youngsters showed great will and determination against a more experienced and physical opposition.
This game was a good measure for what will be required this year to win silverware as Moindearg look like one of the teams challenging for honours.
The Gaels had a small panel on the day but the club could not have asked for more from the lads who gave their all and never give up the battle right up to the final whistle.
It would be unfair to name who played well as it was a great all round team performance with more hard work required to go that step further.

This weekend the seniors start their league campaign with a match against Round Towers at Ruislip on Saturday with a 4.30pm throw-in.
On Sunday the junior team also have a league match against Eir Og at Greenford with a 4pm start. Support very welcome for both games.

Presentation Night:
This Saturday 10th May the club will hold our annual presentation night in the clubhouse.
On the night medals will be presented out to the successful teams of 2013 along with player of the year award for men’s and ladies teams.
All members are invited to come along for a good night’s entertainment with a hot buffet served along with music provided.

Quiz Night:
Well done to the ladies board on holding a very successful fundraising Quiz last Friday night at the club house. Fiona Campbell and her team consisting of Colm Campbell, Quiz master Stocker and bar staff, Maurice, Shaun and Aidan kept the punters entertained throughout the night.
Peter Mc Glynn Tournament:
The annual Peter McGlynn Memorial Tournament took place at Greenford last Bank Holiday Monday 5th May in glorious sunshine. The club was delighted to catch up with Peter's parents Michael and Margaret who traveled over from Ireland to attend.
Well done to the youth board on a very successful and well organised tournament.

At this years ABC tournament at Greenford in July, the Gaels of Britain will again be attempting to break the World record at having the most amount of people on a pitch playing a game of football. More details to follow on the event nearer to the time.
