Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes - 14th September 2015

The senior completed the group phase in the senior championship with a win over Neasdan on Saturday in Greenford. After a shaky first half, the Gaels pulled away to record a comfortable win. Semi final fixtures TBC.

The Juniors played St Anthony's on Sunday in Rusilip in the semi final of the junior championship.  St Anthony's raced into the lead scoring 4 unanswered points before the Gaels registered their first score. Facing a breeze and a stubborn St Anthony's side, The Gaels found it hard to get a foothold in the game. They managed to reduce the deficit from 5 points to 2 after Killian Butler hit a goal after some great play from McGinley.
They were dealt a blow just before half time conceding a goal to go into the break 6 down. The restart saw the Gaels slip to 8 points adrift before they grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. With McGinley leading the line up front, the full back line on top and the midfield starting to get on top they went on a 9 point scoring spree. They were helped when McGinley put the ball on a plate for Butler to tap in.
Both teams exchanged leads in the next couple of minutes and St Anthony's set up a nervy finish, going 1 point ahead. Winning their kick out The Gaels worked the ball up field and McGinley put Kearney through to tap over and set up a reply. Replay next Saturday 19th, at 4.30 in Ruislip.
