U18 match report TCG v Parnells - Greenford - Sat 26th Sept 2015
Well done to the TCG minors who fought back well in the second half to beat a very strong Parnells team on Saturday to remain unbeaten at the top of the U18 league. On the back foot for most of the first half the young Gaels fought hard to stay in touch and clawed back to a 2 point deficit as half time approached. Parnells snatched another goal just at the end of the half to give them a 5 point lead at the break. A bit of soul searching and a rousing few words from captain Liam O'Regan helped lift the TCG players going into the second period. Despite Parnells scoring the next 2 points the Gaels did not panic and a couple of goals from Ronan Joyce and Craig MgGee pulled TCG back into the game. The teams continued to exchange scores and driven forward by Brendan Rice, Thomas Clarke and Liam O'Regan the Gaels finally got the equaliser through Darragh Shortall. With their tails up they then raced to a 5 point lead with good work in the forwards from Kieran McManamon, Sean Rice and Craig McGee. Parnells never gave up and laid siege on the TCG goal, clawing back to level with a goal and 2 points. Again the young Gaels kept their cool and worked the ball down the field and scored a point to edge ahead. With only seconds remaining TCG won the kick out and knocked over the last score of the game to win by 2 points. A very even game that could have gone either way, great skills on show from both teams highlighting the high standard at Under 18.
