Club Notes - 12th May 2008

The senior team played in the Tipperary Cup on Sunday in Ruislip against Neasden Gaels who came out as convincing winners with a scoreline of 3.10 to 0.04. TCG were under strength with many players on duty with London in Ireland and more having just played for London Juniors in a match before. As the manager said we will lick our wounds and look forward to meeting them again in the championship.

Peter McGlynn Tournament

Tir Chonaill Gaels held their annual U12 Peter McGlynn Tournament on Saturday 10th May in glorious sunshine in Tir Chonaill Park. 9 teams participated including three teams from outside London The teams were drawn into two groups. The winners of group 1 played the winners of group 2 for the cup and the runners up from both groups played for the shield. All teams displayed high standards of football. The eventual qualifiers for the cup final were Parnells and Dulwich Harps, with Parnells winning in a highly entertaining game. St. Clarets and St. Dympna’s from Luton played another highly entertaining game for the shield with St. Dympna’s becoming the eventual winners. The cup, shield and medals were presented by Michael and Margaret McGlynn. A fine display of underage girl’s football was given by Tir Chonaill Gaels and Taras despite the unexpected downpour. Tir Chonaill Gaels girls came out victorious. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the tournament on the day, to the organisers, linesmen, umpires, referees and kitchen staff, to Seamus Harley for printing the programmes, Brendan Vaughan for the photography, to the teams, their mentors and parents and especially to Gerard Geraghty the scores co-ordinator and the organiser of the referees, Thank you to the TCG minor board who all worked extremely hard on the day well done to all. Lastly Thank You to Michael & Margaret McGlynn for attending and supporting the event.

Paul & Lisa Redmond

The club would like to pass on their thoughts and prayers to Paul & Lisa Redmond and their family whose lives were turned upside down last Wednesday night after the explosion in South Harrow. Paul & Lisa lived in the house next door to where a man tragically lost his life and since have not been able to gain access to their home. We are all thinking of them at this difficult time.
